Experiments in Cross+Gen Faith Formation
Snowflakes for Peace:
One Confirmation student completed and shared these snowflakes for peace as an artistic prayer practice during a Lenten Wednesday. It was an experiment in alternative ways to lead worship, beyond reading, prayer leading, or ushering for Confirmation students during Lent. You can learn more about Peace Cranes, our inspiration for this project, here: theelders.org/news/story-sadako-sasaki-and-hiroshima-peace-cranes |
Walk for Water:
This was a single event-based Cross+Gen experiment after church on a Sunday morning. It was based on a Lutheran World Hunger Campaign launched at the 2015 ELCA National Youth Gathering. You can access the resources we used for making this a synod-wide youth event here: https://goodgodideas.wordpress.com/2015/11/17/walk-for-water-resources/ |
Cross-Gen Summer Sunday School
This was a summer experiment which merged the Adult and Child/Youth Sunday School programs to become Cross-Generational. It was based on the video series "Buck Denver asks: What's in the Bible?" You can find the series here: www.amazon.com/dp/B07XV3XWLY/ You can find out more information about Summer Sunday School here: Summer Sunday School 2012.pdf |
All Saints Prayer Stations:
This single-event Cross+Gen experiment included several prayer stations around the theme "We are called, gathering, enlightened, made holy, and sent" from Luther's Small Catechism. The prayer stations were self-directed, and the event included coffee fellowship and crafts following the main event. You can access these paryer stations here: https://goodgodideas.wordpress.com/2018/10/31/all-saints-prayer-stations/ |
Large Group Sundays:
This monthly Cross+Gen faith formation gathering explores rotating themes of Service, Learning, and Prayer. It is rotation model-based, and led by Cross+Gen teaching pairs or groups. You can access some of the curriculum for Large Group Sundays here: familygodtime.wordpress.com/2020/01/30/large-group-sunday-school-resource-round-up/ |
Children of God Devotion Time:
This monthly Cross+Gen devotion time is place where all are learning and all have the opportunity to lead. It includes prayers, Bible readings, one-on-one discussion in pairs, and sometimes a song, craft, or prayer practice. You can access some of the curriculum for CDT here: familygodtime.wordpress.com/category/childrens-devotion-time/ |
Sabbath Sunday:
